Who we are

An independent voice for universal human dignity.

WHRF is a human-rights foundation based in The Hague, creating space for rigorous research, principled dialogue and international cooperation.

Our purpose

Grounded in principle.
Open to the world.

We begin from a simple conviction: every person possesses equal dignity, and protecting that dignity is a responsibility shared across borders.

Our public work connects human-rights standards with regional realities. It is designed to be careful, accessible and transparent about what is known, what is still being examined and where cooperation can add genuine value.

History & renewal

Shaped by the universal promise of human rights.

WHRF’s institutional story is connected to the post-war human-rights movement and the ideals expressed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. From The Hague, the foundation is renewing its public platform for the challenges of the present.

Historical milestones will be published as archival records are reviewed and approved. We choose documented institutional history over unsupported claims of scale or impact.

Make human rights visible, understandable and actionable.

01

Our mission

To strengthen human-rights understanding through independent research, credible public analysis and principled cooperation.

02

Our vision

A world in which universal rights are protected in institutions and experienced in the everyday lives of all people.

03

Our approach

Connect reliable sources, regional knowledge and international standards without overstating what evidence can support.

The standard we set for our own work.

01

Universality

Human rights belong to every person, everywhere—without distinction, exception or hierarchy.

02

Independence

Our institutional voice is guided by evidence, international standards and the people most affected.

03

Human Dignity

The inherent worth of every person is the starting point for our analysis, dialogue and action.

04

Accountability

Rights have meaning when institutions and decision-makers can be held to clear, public standards.

Institutional development

Transparency is part of the work.

Governance, leadership and historical records will be published as documentation is approved for the renewed platform. Research outputs will identify their authorship, methods, sources and limitations.

That discipline matters: institutional trust is built through public records, clear roles and claims proportionate to evidence.
